General Contractors
General Contractors and Remodeling Contractors are now Retooling to become Home Performance Contractors
EnergyARM brings together professionals from every energy retrofit field and allows them to present a unified team face to homeowners making it easier for homeowners to make the decision to move forward with energy retrofit work. It facilitates the scheduling, communication, payment and reporting processes so that individual trade contractors can focus on what they do best. However, there is a critical aspect to any multi-faceted project, and that is the job of managing the project. This is where the Energy Improvement Project Manager (Project Manager) comes in.
The work of an Project Manager includes:
- Managing a team to support the customer. This team includes a Customer Support Representative, a Homeowner’s Contractor Representative, and a Purchasing Manager.
- Working with funding sources and with the homeowner to ensure funds are appropriately escrowed.
- Ensuring every contractor is appropriately insured and meets the requirements of programs with which you are affiliated.
- Assisting the homeowner with their selection of an energy auditor (Building Analyst) and Trade Contractors.
- Assisting the homeowner with their selection of improvements and options.
- Managing the schedule for the improvement project.
- Overseeing the quality control of the work being performed.
- Sign-offs and approvals within the system to keep the project moving forward and to disburse funds for payment of trade contractors.
The Project Manager may manage a team of individuals to perform these tasks or may choose to fulfill some or all of these roles himself. Generally this is a project oversight and customer communication role with use of automated processing thrown in. EnergyARM utilizes the Rebuilding Management tool as its project and funds management engine and Jobsite On Time (JOT) as its scheduling and communications engine. You will be required to sign a user agreement with Rebuilding Management and to meet their insurance requirements. You will also be required to sign the terms & conditions of Jobsite On Time. You receive a JOT account as part of the EnergyARM registration process. You can add user accounts for your employees or sub-contractors and utilize the JOT communication and scheduling tools within your own company. You will also be eligible to bid on jobs that come through JOT which are not related to energy retrofit projects giving you an even larger customer base to work within!
