Their professional services and products establish the benchmark for quality and innovation. Over the past twenty-five years Architectural Energy Corporation has provided important program leadership to the HERS industry through its participation in the development of uniform standards, formation of HERS industry organizations, technical and advisory help to HERS Providers and Raters, and continuous development of the REM/Rate™ home energy rating software. Michael Holtz, FAIA, President of Architectural Energy Corporation, and former head of the Solar Energy Research Institute’s building energy research program, participated with the U.S. League of Saving Associations in the late 1970’s to create the first guidelines for home energy ratings. He continued his involvement with the Regional Solar Energy Centers to develop the concept of a home energy rating program in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, and was instrumental in developing the DOE/HUD Collaborative Council for Home Energy Ratings, out of which the HERS Council was formed and eventually RESNET. Architectural Energy Corporation’s award winning home energy rating software, REM/Rate™ is the calculation engine used within EnergyARM.

Jobsite On-Time, Inc.: JobsiteOnTime.com was the 2007 Innovative Housing Technology Award winner in Integrated Excellence. It is also the scheduling, quality oversight and communication engine of EnergyARM. JobsiteOnTime.com helps contractors streamline their retrofit and construction processes by providing access to an up-to-date building schedule of each of their projects in a secure online information portal. JobsiteOnTime.com is not only an on-demand scheduling software program; it is a complete project data reporting website. Originally, its sole purpose was to communicate scheduling data to subcontractors and suppliers in the field. Now, nearly ten years after its launch, it’s able to use the power of the internet to help Builders, Remodelers, Building Material Suppliers, and Artisan Trade Contractors market their businesses through social media giants like Twitter and Facebook. The secure document repository still allows contractors to make their plans, specifications, cut sheets, or any other information available to the people that need it. Quality control systems are seamlessly integrated into the schedule management process, where they should be. Updating the project schedule with quality checklists gives the project manager an unparalleled advantage. The transparent quality assurance program and thoroughly documented results complete with photos keeps everyone involved in the project intimately in the loop.
Rebuilding Management, LLC: The Rebuilding Management system, which received first place for integrated excellence in the 2008 Innovative Housing Technology Awards, uses computer technology to automate the construction process. It operates like a general contractor, only more efficiently. It was originally built to help speed up the construction process so that residents displaced by Hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters could return home more quickly. Components of the system include property-damage assessment, cost estimating, material and contractor bidding, purchase and work orders, labor and construction management, and scheduling. The system also serves to connect homeowners with contractors and building suppliers. Through Rebuilding Management’s Internet-based system, suppliers can display products on line, allowing displaced homeowners to make selections on such items as plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, flooring, and windows, on line. Unique to the system is the financial safeguard component that protects homeowners from fraud and ensures payment to contractors and material suppliers. The Rebuilding Management system is utilized by EnergyARM to ensure complete accountability and transparency within its energy retrofit projects.
RESNET – The Residential Energy Services Network: The Residential Energy Services Network’s (RESNET®) mission is to ensure the success of the building energy performance certification industry, set the standards of quality, and increase the opportunity for ownership of high performance buildings. RESNET is a membership 501-C-3 non profit organization. RESNET’s standards are officially recognized by the U.S. mortgage industry for capitalizing a building’s energy performance in the mortgage loan, certification of “White Tags” for private financial investors, and by the federal government for verification of building energy performance for such programs as federal tax incentives, the Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR program and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America Program. RESNET Ratings provides a relative energy use index called the HERS® Index – a HERS Index of 100 represents the energy use of the “American Standard Building” and an Index of 0 (zero) indicates that the Proposed Building uses no net purchased energy (a Zero Energy Building). A set of rater recommendations for cost-effective improvements that can be achieved by the Rated Building is also produced. RESNET standards encompass software accreditation, knowledge base and skill sets that a rater must demonstrate, and quality assurance and evaluation ensuring consistency and reliability of rating results across the nation.
