Who should take this course?
This course trains BPI Building Analyst to be RESNET Certified Home Energy Raters and prepares them for the RESNET national rater exam. This course is for certified BPI Building Analysts or those who have already successfully completed the BPI Building Analyst course. Study materials will be sent when course registration is received. What will you learn?
- How to produce a complete home energy analysis using REM/Rate™, a computerized home energy modeling program.
- How to use state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, including a blower door and Duct Blaster™
- How to certify homes for the EPA ENERGY STAR homes program.
- How to evaluate the energy performance, comfort and safety of a house.
- What to look for, such as, hidden flaws often found in residential construction that can cause high utility bills, discomfort, moisture problems and indoor air quality problems.
How will you become certified?
To become certified as a professional home energy rater, you must successfully complete this training course, pass the RESNET national rater exam and complete three (3) field ratings. Doing so, you will be able to produce energy rating reports that will help homebuyers and homeowners qualify for energy rebates and a variety of private and government loan programs. Certification as a Home Energy Rater is a National certification. It is accepted (along with a joint certification as a BPI Building Analyst) as the Kansas Energy Auditor Certification necessary for auditors wishing to participate in the new ‘Efficiency Kansas’ weatherization programs, loans and rebates.
